What is the Writing Process?
Through writing, we can explore the depths of the seas and the walls of the pyramids. Writing can also be a way to express lived experiences and personal accounts, allowing students to think and reflect.
To understanding writing, teachers have to think about the writing process, which I have seen very few teachers follow. One way to think about the writing process is the IDEEP process, which stands for ideate, draft, enhance, edit, and publish. In our classroom, I approach it using this process: brainstorm, draft, edit, and publish.

In addition to the writing process, teachers have to think about how to support students as they become authors and writers. The conference and the writing menu are two critical ways to achieve that. Finally, as a way to encourage writing, there is a section that explores how to build interest in writing through activities and games. Slowly, but surely, students will come to love writing through these various strategies.
